When I Looked In The Mirror Again
A story about confidence, identity, and feeling like yourself again.

Since 1998, I’ve had thousands of conversations with women going through hair loss.
Some were preparing for treatment.
Some had just started losing their hair.
Some simply wanted to feel normal again.
And over the years, I’ve learned something important:
Hair loss is never “just hair.”
It’s emotional.
It’s personal.
And many women quietly carry that pain alone.
One customer I’ll never forget was Rachel.
When Rachel first contacted us, she told me she no longer recognized herself in the mirror.
“I felt like I was losing part of my identity,” she shared.
She explained how every morning became harder.
Adjusting her hair.
Trying different angles.
Hoping nobody noticed.
And more than anything, she felt overwhelmed.
Not only by the hair loss —
but by the fear of not feeling like herself anymore.
When Rachel first began looking into wigs, she said the process felt confusing and emotional.
“There were too many options. I didn’t even know where to begin.”
But after speaking together, something slowly changed.
Not overnight.
Not instantly.
But little by little, she began feeling comfortable again.
And then came the moment she still remembers clearly.
“When I put the wig on for the first time, I finally saw myself again.”
Not the illness.
Not the fear.
Just herself.
Confident.
Comfortable.
Hopeful.
Moments like that are why we created The Fortune Journey.
A place for real stories, gentle guidance, and support for women walking through hair loss and medical treatment.
Because if you are going through this right now, we want you to know something:
You are not alone.
