First, our honest advice
$300.00 · one flat fee, every service included
Most of our clients keep their wig unstyled — and we recommend it. The best cut is one made on your own head, in your own salon.
Want Fortune hands to do it? Add it for $300 — cutting, styling, baby hairs, and fit, all included.
Once you’ve paid, we email you a link to a short form — describe the look you want, share inspiration, and upload photos. Nothing begins until we’ve confirmed your wishes in writing.
- A precise cut and face-framing, shaped to your wishes
- Baby hairs and hairline customization
- Wash, condition, and full styling
- A video review of the finished piece before it ships
After checkout we'll reach out to confirm every detail — nothing is cut until you approve.
One thing we need you to know before you add this: once hair is cut, it cannot be refunded — hair doesn't grow back. If the result isn't right, we will restyle it to your liking at no charge. But we cannot refund a cut.

Fortune Wigs
We're not happy till you are.
Fortune Wigs has been a family wig salon since 1998, in Brooklyn and Lakewood. Esther Tobias, our founder and head stylist, has sat with hundreds of women at every kind of moment. That experience is behind every piece we send you.
The sale is not the end of our work. When your piece needs a wash, a refresh, or a repair down the road, the same salon that finished it takes care of it — by mail or in person. When you need us, we're here.
Before you decide
The piece, in depth
How it is built. The top is worked by hand so the parting reads as scalp rather than as a seam — a silk top hides the knots under a fine layer so the part looks like skin, a lace top sits flatter and gives you a part you can move. The rest of the cap is wefted for airflow, so it stays light through a full day.
How it falls. Length is measured from the crown to the ends when the hair is straight; waves and layers will read one to two inches shorter on. Shorter lengths hold body near the face, longer lengths carry weight and hang straighter. If you are deciding between two, the longer one can always be cut down — the reverse is not true.
How it sits. Cap sizes run small, medium and large, with adjustable straps for the final quarter-inch. It should feel secure with no pressure at the temples. A piece that grips is a size too small, and a piece that shifts when you turn your head is a size too big.
Colour. Every shade on this page is photographed on real hair in natural light. Rooted and highlighted shades move in daylight the way grown hair does, which is what keeps them from reading flat.
Washing. Every eight to ten wears is plenty for most people; more often than that shortens the life of the hair. Use a sulphate-free shampoo, work it through the hair rather than scrubbing the cap, and condition the mid-lengths and ends only — never the roots, which loosens the knots.
Drying and heat. Blot with a towel, never wring. Air-dry on a stand wherever you can. When you do use heat, keep it moderate and always use a protectant: human hair cannot repair itself the way growing hair does, so heat damage is permanent.
Brushing. Start at the ends and work upward with a loop or soft-bristle brush, holding the hair above where you are brushing so you are not pulling at the knots.
Storage and sleep. Store on a stand or in its box so the cap keeps its shape — never folded in a drawer. Do not sleep in it if you can avoid it; if you must, loosely braid it first.
When to bring it in. If the part starts to widen, the hair feels dry at the ends no matter what you do, or the cap has loosened, that is the moment to call us rather than wait. Most of what we see is easy to correct early and expensive to correct late.
Is this real human hair? Yes — 100% Remy human hair with the cuticles intact and running in one direction, which is what keeps it soft and stops it tangling.
How do I choose between two shades? Select any colour above and the photographs on this page change to that shade. If you are still between two, or matching to your own hair, call us at 917-563-4851 — we would rather help you get it right than have you guess.
When will it ship? In-stock pieces ship the same day. Made-to-order pieces are confirmed with you after you order, so you always know where yours stands.
Can I return it? New, unaltered pieces can be returned within 10 days of delivery. Anything cut, coloured, washed, styled, worn or altered is not eligible, and shipping costs are non-refundable.
What if it needs a repair? For the first six months, standard repairs relating to normal wear are on us, including eligible cap and construction repairs, subject to our terms. After that our salon team can still take care of you.
Can you cut and style it for me? Yes. We recommend taking your piece uncut so it can be fitted to you. Because cutting cannot be undone, we confirm every detail with you in writing before any work begins.
