Fortune Wigs

We're not happy till you are.

Fortune Wigs has been a family wig salon since 1998, in Brooklyn and Lakewood. Esther Tobias, our founder and head stylist, has sat with hundreds of women at every kind of moment. That experience is behind every piece we send you.

The sale is not the end of our work. When your piece needs a wash, a refresh, or a repair down the road, the same salon that finished it takes care of it — by mail or in person. When you need us, we're here.

Before you decide

The piece, in depth

How it is built. The top is worked by hand so the parting reads as scalp rather than as a seam — a silk top hides the knots under a fine layer so the part looks like skin, a lace top sits flatter and gives you a part you can move. The rest of the cap is wefted for airflow, so it stays light through a full day.

How it falls. Length is measured from the crown to the ends when the hair is straight; waves and layers will read one to two inches shorter on. Shorter lengths hold body near the face, longer lengths carry weight and hang straighter. If you are deciding between two, the longer one can always be cut down — the reverse is not true.

How it sits. Cap sizes run small, medium and large, with adjustable straps for the final quarter-inch. It should feel secure with no pressure at the temples. A piece that grips is a size too small, and a piece that shifts when you turn your head is a size too big.

Colour. Every shade on this page is photographed on real hair in natural light. Rooted and highlighted shades move in daylight the way grown hair does, which is what keeps them from reading flat.
