She has been fitting wigs since 1998.
Fortune Wigs began in 1998, when Esther Tobias saw how hard it was to find a beautiful, natural-looking wig at a fair price — so she made one herself.
We're still family-run, and still guided by Esther's way of doing things: kind, honest, unhurried.
Finding the right wig should feel easy and personal. That's the whole idea — and why our promise has never changed: we're not happy till you are.
In the salon
What happens in the salon.
Brooklyn and Lakewood are where the hands-on work gets done. If you're not local, repairs and wash-and-style can be arranged by mail.

Shaping, layering, and finishing — by the stylists who fitted the piece.

Rooting and dyeing, matched in person rather than from a photograph.

New elastics, cap resizing, filling a part, lace work. In person or by mail.

What you can buy from us here.
Our online store carries the Mazali line — 100% fine Remy Asian human hair — in wigs and toppers. Every piece arrives uncut and unstyled. That is on purpose: it leaves the shaping to whoever knows your face, whether that's us or a stylist near you.
The Fortune line, 100% fine European hair, is fitted in the salon only. If that's the one you're after, come and sit with us.
Fortune Pre-Owned is the third door: gently used Fortune pieces, evaluated and cleaned in the salon before they are listed here.
Wigs and toppers can come back to us within ten days of reaching you, as long as they are still uncut, unwashed and unstyled.
