She has been fitting wigs since 1998.
Fortune Wigs began in 1998, when Esther Tobias saw how hard it was to find a beautiful, natural-looking wig at a fair price — so she made one herself.
We're still family-run, and still guided by Esther's way of doing things: kind, honest, unhurried.
Finding the right wig should feel easy and personal. That's the whole idea — and why our promise has never changed: we're not happy till you are.
In the salon
What happens in the salon.
Brooklyn and Lakewood are where the hands-on work gets done. If you're not local, repairs and wash-and-style can be arranged by mail.

Shaping, layering, and finishing — by the stylists who fitted the piece.

Rooting and dyeing, matched in person rather than from a photograph.

New elastics, cap resizing, filling a part, lace work. In person or by mail.

What you can buy from us here.
Our online store carries two lines. Mazali is 100% fine Remy Asian human hair, in wigs and toppers. Tuni by Mazali is our signature Mazali, taken a step further.
Every wig arrives uncut and unstyled, with natural layers already in the hair. Most of our clients wear it just as it arrives. Others have it cut and styled their way, by us or by a stylist near them.
The Fortune line, 100% fine European hair, is fitted in the salon only. If that's the one you're after, come and sit with us.
Fortune Pre-Owned is another door: gently used Fortune pieces, evaluated and cleaned in the salon before they are listed here.
You can return any piece within 10 days of receiving it, not counting shipping time, as long as it's unworn and unaltered, with tags attached. The one exception: once we've done work on a piece — cut, styled or colored — it can't be refunded, but we're happy to adjust the style where we can.
