How to Care for Human Hair Halo Extensions

Your extensions should make getting ready easier. A few gentle habits will help keep the hair manageable without adding an elaborate routine.

This guide is for removable human hair halo extensions. Bonded, taped, and sewn-in extensions need their own care instructions.

Remove and detangle with care

Take the extension off before working through tangles. Hold the hair above the section you are detangling, begin at the ends, and move upward gradually. Keep the brush or comb away from the wire and attachment. Stop at resistance instead of pulling through it.

For textured hair, use the method recommended for that specific texture. Repeated dry brushing can disturb a curl pattern.

Wash when there is a reason

Product buildup, heaviness, or a change in how the hair moves can mean it needs cleansing. Frequency depends on wear and product use; a single calendar rule will not suit everyone.

Use a gentle cleanser suitable for your human hair extension. Keep the strands aligned while washing and rinsing, and avoid rubbing, twisting, or knotting the hair. Apply an appropriate conditioner to the lengths and ends, keeping it away from the attachment area.

Blot with a towel and follow the piece's drying instructions. Let the hair and attachment dry fully before packing them away.

Use less heat and product

Human hair can be heat-styled, but it can still be damaged. Use a suitable heat protectant and a controllable tool at the lowest effective temperature. Keep hot tools away from the wire. Do not use a flat iron or curling iron on damp hair.

Ask an experienced extension professional before changing color. Previous processing affects what is possible, and lightening a dark-dyed piece can cause damage.

Store it ready for next time

Remove your halo before sleeping and swimming. Store it clean, completely dry, and loosely arranged in a protective container, away from direct sun and heat. Avoid tight knots or bends in the wire.

If tangling or shedding suddenly changes, send us photos and your care routine before trying more products. We can help you decide what to do next.
